First Father's Day!

Clay and I were excited to celebrate Father's Day. After Mother's Day, however, we weren't sure how we could top it.  We tried by inviting over over Eric, Amanda and their girls to go for a walk up on the levee and then through town. We had a nice morning visiting and being out and about. After we had built up a pretty large appetite, we met Luke's dad over at our house for breakfast. I made a sausage and cheddar cheese scramble with toast, fruit and coffee cake. It was a fun morning with the three dads at our house.

Later on that day, Luke got to work in the back yard while Clay and I made one of his favorite meals, pot roast! That night, we ate at the table with our fine china under a candelabra. So fancy for our fantastic Clay's dad!

We also got Luke a HUGE card to show him our HUGE appreciation for what a great dad he is.
Clay got his dad a package of peanut m&m's which say, "I'm NUTS over you!"

Here is Clay helping his dad open the huge card.

Happy Fathers Day!

I can't remember what Clay said here, but it definitely cracked me up!

Fancy dinner for Clay's dad!

Redway

In the beginning of June, Clay and I joined my mom, Maile and her kids for a few days in Redway. I grew up spending a week in Redway with my family every summer, and so I am excited to start this tradition with Clay. To me, Redway means being in your bathing suit around the clock, throwing rocks in the river, reading, eating meals outside and hanging with family. After this trip, I hope Clay feels the same way!
Our first night. My mom prepared a yummy chicken, pine nut, blue cheese, arugula and avocado salad. I think the Clay had cherries, cheddar cheese and cheerios.  So everyone was happy!

Joey and Alex were river kids, constantly playing in the water.

Maile set up her fancy beach umbrella. Then my mom and Clay quickly took over the shade.

I had so much fun with Clay in the water. He seems to really love kicking and floating around!

Clay and I are talking about how much we miss his dad here.

Here we are in the morning. Bagels and cream cheese!

This was Clay's first time eating cream cheese. Check out those legs in the background!

Smiles all around.

We ventured across the river to a small little Redwood tree park. We found these massive redwood trees!

So amazing.

Eating a nectarine

10 Months!!!

These months are just flying by! At 10 months, Clay is such a cutie. He loves standing up.  He'll stand near our coffee table and scoot around it, or just stand there and yell happily at us.  Clay is eating a lot of different foods now, basically everything that Luke and I are eating. He really liked blueberry pancakes!  Clay has four teeth and he's getting pretty good and chomping his pearly whites.  He learned how to wave this month! It's funny watching him wave his short little arms in response to someone saying goodbye to him.

He is SO friendly to strangers. He has developed this little flirty smile that he brings out when he sees a camera, or when we meet someone new who goes ga ga over him.

Clay also loves water. I have this little floaty toy that allows him to kick in the water.  He screams and smiles really big when he gets into the water.  He also likes playing in the mud. I turn on the hose outside, and he'll sit happily inspecting rocks and sticks.

He is so much fun!

Visitors in Colusa

We've been in Colusa for almost three months now, and all of our friends are curious to visit our new home town. Since we've been here, we've had house guests almost every weekend. We feel so popular! It's been very fun to host our friends and show them around town.

Clay's friend, Teo Merino, came to visit with his parents, Chris and Ali.

We had the kids play outside with this water table. It was very cute watching them "interact."

Bathtime is way more fun with a friend!

Luke played catch with Chris and Ali. It was a great day visiting with these friends.

Michelle and Jared also came for a weekend from Kerman.

We brought them to the Steelhead Grill on the river.

Clay and Michelle were two peas in a pod.

Annie and Melissa came up for the day as well. They helped Clay and I pick out a kitten in Yuba City! We named the kitten "Mannie," after these two knuckleheads.
