Clay the Imaginary Phone Talker

This past week, Clay took Luke's phone, held it to his ear and said, "Alo? Bye." We couldn't believe it!

"Excuse me, I'll be just a minute on this call."

"She said WHAT?! That is hilarious! Okay, gotta go, bye!"

"Just kidding! I don't know how to use a phone, and I can't talk!"

Clay and his Dad, enjoying Sunday football together. Go Niners!

He's also started eating man-pized portions of pasta, rivaling Luke and I in how much he can eat. I made pesto pasta with chicken last week, and he went bananas over it. Speaking of bananas, he can't get enough of them. He eats at least one a day, sometimes two if he gets another one at day care.

Clay is a walking machine. He's very wobbly, but he recently made the transition to walking more than crawling. As I'm typing this, I'm just realizing I haven't seen Clay crawl in a few days. And we transitioned him from bottles to sippy cups... what's happening to our baby! He's kind of not a baby anymore. Except, he can't talk. He gives us constant baby babbles. So, in that respect, he's definitely still a baby!

Brunch at 1 Fawn Ridge

My parents had us all over on Sunday for brunch.  Whenever we're all together, it's a zoo.  This was the first time that I noticed Clay gravitating towards the chaos, his cousins.

Joey went right for the sprinkled doughnut.

I caught Alex giving Clay a doughnut.

Quincy Visit

Last weekend, we took a quick trip up to Quincy to visit Karen, Joey and their boys. We were expecting a gnarly twisty ride up, and so we were prepared for the hour long winding ride along the Feather River canyon. It was not that bad!

Karen and Joey live in a really neat old home right across the street from where they both work. We had fun watching the boys play in the sand box, going for a walk downtown, and then enjoying a delicious dinner that Karen cooked.

Joey was working at a football game, and so we went for a walk while we waited for him to come home.

So pretty!

Clay was pretty into the horses...

... and Maya, the Schad's dog.

They have a fantastic backyard with a huge sand box, fruit trees and lots of green grass.

We were the morning crew.

More August fun

Luke turned 45, I mean 34! And other pictures taken around the house...

Colusa has been hot this summer! But, we've taken to lots of playing outside with the hose to beat the heat.

We've been doing lots of this around the house too. It's fun having a walker!

Here we are on a Friday morning before work. Don't most kids play in the mud before starting the day?

I let him get extra dirty before throwing him in the bathtub.

Picture I took during Clay's 1 year appointment. He weighed 23 pounds. I was so sure he weighed 30 pounds since I can feel his weight in my arms! This picture was taken before the shots.

Luke's birthday lunch!

What a toothy grin!

Clay got this from Melissa and Sarah. He is getting ready for his life in Colusa.

Ali and Chris got this red tricycle for Clay. Although Clay also loves riding in it, he gets a blast out of pushing it around too!

We got Luke a bicycle trailer to pull Clay around. With the trailer, we also got Clay a helmet.

This was taken during Luke's birthday celebration. We went to his parents' house for a great steak dinner.

Cindy gave Luke a book that Luke loved when he was little, "The Little Engine That Could." Now Luke gets to share this with Clay!

Clay is One!

On the morning of Clay's 1st birthday, he woke up to his mom and dad singing happy birthday to him in his crib. Below are the pictures we took while we were singing. As you can tell, it was probably the best wake up experience of his life. Look how happy he is here!  I can't believe this year - I really didn't understand how much joy Clay would bring to our life.

Clay started taking steps 1 week after his first birthday! He still only really says mama and dada (we think) and no, but he also has started singing this song that Luke and I both hear as the "Happy Birthday" song. I think he heard this song so much in August between Cindy's, Luke's and all the kids at his daycare's birthdays.

Mom and Dad are BOTH singing to me?!

We threw a backyard birthday bash for Clay and invited over family and friends. Luke's secretary, Griselda's and her husband Marco brought over this grill to cook tacos.  My mom and I made a lime cilantro with feta cheese Mexican themed salad to go with the tacos. Cindy made a delicious chocolate cake. Maile made chocolate haystacks... it was a group effort, but a feast!  We set up the slip and slide on the grass next to an inflatable baby pool. The water toys were a hit! We had so many little kids playing on the slip in slide. Alongside the water toys, we also had a whiffle ball game, piñata and a ping pong tournament.  Our guests were enthusiasts, which made the party way more fun. Luke's friend Spencer won the ping pong tournament, Matt's kids helped get the whiffle ball game going alongside Grandpa Leo and Grandpa Tim was in charge of the baseball themed piñata.  Clay's First Birthday was a blast!

Of course I don't have any pictures of Clay eating cake for the first time or of the pig themed cakes I made for Maile and Cindy to go alongside with Clays' ... But you can just imagine a baby who wasn't so interested in eating his pink pig shaped cake with his name on it. :)

I don't need to nap today! I'm one!

Sharon, Jessie, Michelle and Rachel. I had friends come from far away.

"Don't hit it too hard Ben.  There are 20 kids here that need a turn."

Come and get it!

It was a really hot day, but this definitely help!
